Quilted at Last!

Finished my youngest daughter's quilt AT LAST. It was pieced 18 months ago already. She chose the center and first border and I picked the rest as it 'grew'. Looks nice and cosy for winter... Teddy thinks so anyway. By the way my daughter is 17 and last year at school, haha.

Mixed Emotions Mother's Day

To all of my lovely blogging friends, I hope you had a special mother's day.

A day of mixed feelings for many, including myself. A day when my mom, living overseas seems especially far away, a day when my granny are deeply missed, passing away only last year at the ripe age of 98.

 A day I thank God for entrusting two gorgeous young ladies to our care to be a mom to them. How I wish I could have a 'game over' and try again to do a better job. Regardless of all my mistakes raising them, I rejoice in the fact that they grew up knowing and loving God and are 2 beautiful God-loving girls. What more can a mum ask for?

Oi Oi Oi !

On Thursday the 8th March we became Aussies! Raised in South Africa, lived in NZ for 11 years and now we're Aussies! Think this is it! We are very grateful to live here.

Farmer Wants a Wife... One Day

Today I took the plunge and bought The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt book! I have been admiring all the lovely blocks everyone else are making for a while now. This will be one of my long term projects. I am SO behind with quilting my finished tops, so hopefully this will slow me down to catch up! Isn't it just so much easier to start a new quilt top than finishing it!

There is also a new 'Farmer's Wife in Your Life' blog hop starting in March  for those not wanting to do the quilt but rather use some of the blocks in smaller projects. You can see it here....

I'll decide as I go!

Craftsy BOM

I found a great BOM online course at Craftsy . Not only one but two 12.5'' blocks are shown per month and best of all it's free! I am a little behind making them, but after viewing the tutorials for Jan and Feb , I definitely going to join in.   Have a look yourself !    http://www.craftsy.com/

Happy Australia Day

As an immigrant to Australia I fee very blessed to live here. We just missed the cut-off date to have our citizenship ceremony on this special day , but were told we are on the March list.

Our day wasn't very eventful , as we had a rainy kind of day, with very little going on at the beach as per normal. Everybody flocked to the shops instead! Pretty busy! The kids theri annual volleyball competition moved from the park to the church's parking lot, but still had fun!

Something for Me

Today was a lovely day, sewing with my Friday friends ! At last I finished the 10  French inspired placemats (reversable) !  For ME !

Also bought a gorgeous bit of French linen, cut to size, a quick hem, and there it is, lovely runner! ( I just adore how my new little Christmas tree goes with it ).

PS, very excited as my Mum is on her way to the airport in Johannesburg, to come and visit us here in Australia !

My Baby all Grown Up !

I do apologise for my absents in blogland for so long. since ma dad and grandma's deaths only weeks apart, I just lost my mojo. I have been following everyone else's blogs, but just didn't have a desire to blog myself.

I have been quilting though and will take some piccies and put them on. I finished the tumbler baby quilt as soon as the baby was born and the mummy was very happy.   I also finished another baby quilt top and as soon as the baby is born December I will finish that one off too.

I am busy making some placemats FOR MYSELF as a class projects on Fridays at my sewing group. Hopefully they will be ready for Christmas! I also finished the top for my daughter's batik Jelly Roll quilt.

My mum is arriving in 2 weeks from South Africa and when I was over there for my dad's funeral I brought back a suitcase full of his old shirts! I am busy cutting them up to make Mum a lapquilt to take back home in February. It is a bit upsetting at times when I cut up his shirts! Hope I can make something nice with them. If anyone has ideas for a pattern please share! They are pretty bland and plain colours.

Oh and I almost forgot, I am still keeping up with my block swaps each month!

Would love to share with  you that my oldest daughter (4 in the picture below) has just finished school and had her Formal last Wednesday! How time flies! It was a lovely night and she was smiling ALL the time! So blessed to have her as a daughter! She is currently at Schoolies !
